Marshmallow Encouragement

Some weeks are just too busy to bake muffins or scones or cookies. I tend to love people best through food and have come up with a few ideas to still offer hospitality and kindness to my family without turning on the oven. These ideas are flexible and completely customizable to season and to age level.

I mixed up a quick fall snack mix and put them in seasonal muffin liners. I used:

  • pretzels

  • candy pumpkins

  • candy corn

  • popcorn

  • peanuts

  • M&M’s

  • and Hershey kisses

This was very quick and easy, portioning a scoop into a muffin liner is a great snack amount and it looks festive without any extra effort.

I used a Wilton FoodWriter pen to write on a jumbo marshmallow. I found this pen at Michael’s craft store but I’ve also bought them on Amazon. I floated this bit of encouragement in a peppermint hot chocolate and delivered them around to my kids. They were delighted once I assured them the ink wasn’t poison…!

I always add collagen to my kids sweet drinks: chai tea latte, hot chocolate, apple cider, etc. It’s a great way to make their treat into a purposeful snack. Collagen is a fantastic protein supplement, it helps your skin increase its elasticity and hydration, improves joint health, and assists with digestion. This is my favorite collagen supplement, its unflavored, super clean ingredient list and dissolves beautifully! Its made by https://kpowsupplements.com/products/collagen-peptides and I have a discount code of: Duckett10 if you want to try it.

Even when a week is busy I try to be intentional about connecting and encouraging my kids. It took only a moment to write on a marshmallow and mix up a hot chocolate. But it’s so deeply important to be speaking forward into the life of the children in our home. I put together a list of (short, because marshmallows are a small canvas) encouraging phrases to write out and offer a bit of verbal hug to those we’ve been given to love.

  • You are loved

  • You make me smile

  • I believe in you

  • I love your laugh

  • I love spending time with you

  • You are brave

  • I am so proud of you

  • You are kind

  • I’m glad you’re home

  • I’m grateful for you

  • You are amazing

  • I’m your biggest fan

  • I see how hard you’re working

  • Your ideas matter

  • I’m so glad you’re mine

  • I will always root for you
